Manchester United's Erik ten Hag 'not happy' with referee Anthony Taylor after 1-1 draw with West Brom

United boss blasts official's 'inconsistent' performance

Red Devils held to a draw by Championship side in FA Cup fifth round

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was not a happy man after his side were held to a 1-1 draw by Championship side West Brom in the FA Cup fifth round. The Red Devils took the lead through Marcus Rashford in the first half, but Karlan Grant equalised for the Baggies just after the hour mark. Ten Hag felt that his side should have been awarded a penalty in the first half when Alejandro Garnacho was brought down in the box. He also questioned Taylor's decision to book Fred for a foul on Taylor Gardner-Hickman. "I'm not happy with the performance of the referee," Ten Hag said after the match. "I think he was inconsistent. He didn't give us a penalty in the first half when Garnacho was brought down. And then he booked Fred for a foul that was not a foul. "I think he had a really bad game today. He influenced the game in a negative way." United fans also took to social media to vent their frustrations about Taylor's performance. Many felt that he was biased against the Red Devils and that he made several poor decisions. One fan tweeted: "Anthony Taylor is a disgrace. He should never be allowed to referee a Manchester United game again." Another fan added: "Taylor is the worst referee in the Premier League. He's always making bad decisions against United." Ten Hag will be hoping that his side can put their FA Cup disappointment behind them when they travel to Liverpool in the Premier League on Monday.
