The highly anticipated sequel to the beloved Disney animated film, Moana, is set to hit theaters in 2024. The cast and crew for the upcoming film have been confirmed, with Aulii Cravalho, Dwayne Johnson, and Alan Tudyk all reprising their roles as Moana, Maui, and Heihei, respectively.
Release Date and Changes
The original release date for the live-action Moana remake was set for 2023. However, the announcement of Moana 2 has prompted a change in plans. The live-action remake is now expected to be released in a later window, likely to avoid competition with the animated sequel.
In February 2024, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that Moana 2 would be arriving in theaters in November 2024. Aulii Cravalho herself announced the sequel during a live-stream event.
